Trainer Peter Moody has been pleased with the form and class displayed by Noela’s Choice through her long and busy preparation this time and is hopeful she can cap her campaign with black type success in Saturday’s Listed Winter Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens.
Noela’s Choice has posted a career total of five wins and as many minors through only fifteen starts so far and while yet to contest a race a black type level, will carrying winning form into the race after taking out the TAB Place Multi BM80 (1600m) by two lengths on July 11th.
Having drawn the outside barrier 13 for the 2015 Winter Stakes, Moody is confident the alley and conditions at Rosehill will actually play into the strengths of the Sebring mare and hopes she can find ideal running room early.
“Noela’s Choice loves the mud and we’re just chasing a bit of black type at the end of her prep,” Moody told Racing Ahead.
“Back a furlong doesn’t suit but she’s rock-hard fit.
“The 13 alley is probably a massive benefit for her because she doesn’t like being in amongst them.
“She’ll be on the outside on ground that she loves and hopefully she can fall into place and get some black type.”
Debuting to racing for a credible second in the City Of Ballarat Maiden (1200m) partway through 2013, Noela’s Choice continued to impressive in failing to finish outside the first three in each of her first six starts.
Returning this year on the third of January, Noela’s Choice clearly needed the run when beating only one runner home in the Telstra Phonewords BM78 (1000m) first-up, but responded well in taking out the Grand Hotel Frankston BM70 (1500m) on February 18th.
