Haussmann will carry winning black type form into the 2015 Winter Stakes but is sure to need some luck in running if to continue his impressive form through on Saturday from the somewhat wide and awkward barrier 11.

Posting seven wins and a further eleven minors through 34 career starts so far, Haussmann failed to make anything of an impact when eleventh in the Listed Luskin Star Stakes (1300m) first-up on May 16th, but quickly found form in running a credible fifth in the TAB Rewards Handicap (1400m) and winning the Listed Civic Stakes (1350m) most recently.

James McDonald has been confirmed to return to the saddle on Saturday and is sure to add to the claims of the classy gelding.

Chris Waller is set to dominate the running of the 2015 Winter Stakes after confirming four runners in the final field, including You’ll Never and Instrumentalist.

You’ll Never has contested a strong and consistent career for Waller; posting seven wins and a further sixteen minors through 37 starts.

Securing consecutive wins in a pair of Rosehill minors upon resuming this time, the Commands gelding ran third in both the TAB Rewards Handicap (1400m) and Perfection Fresh Handicap (1500m) most recently.

Confirmed to be partnered by leading hoop Blake Shinn, You’ll Never may very well receive the run of the race on Saturday from barrier 2.

Instrumentalist has not been seen at the races for more than a year but is a proven performer at black type level and has trialled well in the lead-up to his return.

Claiming eight wins and seven minors through 28 career starts, the Amadeus Wolf gelding ended his most recent campaign with success in the Listed Mornington Cup (2400m) in early 2014.

Gai Waterhouse is also set to be offered more than one chance for success in the 2015 Winter Stakes after confirming Spurtonic and Liberty’s Choice in the final field.

Spurtonic returned for a freshen-up after failing to fire in the Listed Mornington Cup Prelude (2000m) on February 28th and has been charged with carrying a race-high 59kgs in the 2015 Winter Stakes.

Liberty’s Choice will also contest the 2015 Winter Stakes but is sure to lay a great account for himself from barrier 5, with Tommy Berry aboard and with only 54kgs.
