2010 Winter Stakes Final Field

June 24th, 2010

The Brisbane Racing Carnival comes to an end on Saturday, when the Eagle Farm Racecourse holds the Winter Stakes Day – the last day of winter racing in the Queensland capital.

The Peter Snowden-trained Beaded has drawn well with barrier two – and looks a strong contender.

With eight great races forming the final event, the Group 1 Winter Stakes (1400m) will headline the day’s action and sees 13 classy fillies and mares set for the line up.

Worth half a million dollars, the 2010 Winter Stakes is due to jump just before 4pm, and the Peter Snowden-trained Beaded has drawn well with barrier two – and looks a strong contender.

After finishing fourth in the 2010 Stradbroke Handicap, the four-year-old mare has had a good stint in Brisbane, and will no doubt look to go out with a bang and a potential Melbourne Spring Carnival campaign.

Melito, the runner up in the 2010 Stradbroke Handicap has drawn the widest alley, and not having claimed a Group 1 event since the 2010 TJ Smith Stakes in April, will look to add another prestigious title to her name.

Second placed runner in the 2010 Doomben Cup Gold Water has drawn barrier twelve, but having run the Doomben from the 11th barrier, could be a contender with the mare running in her last race.

Winner of the 2010 Dane Ripper Stakes over the 1,400 metres at Eagle Farm Set For Fame will no doubt be another front runner, and having drawn the middle fourth barrier has a perfect start.

Also taking place at Eagle Farm on Saturday will be the Group 3 Tattersall’s Cup Handicap (2200m) and the Group 3 W.J. Healy Stakes Handicap (1200m).
